In short: Kaş is a small harbour town on the coast south-west of Antalya, reached by a long and scenic coast road via Kemer and Demre. As a day trip it means many hours of driving, so start early, choose a few stops, or better, stay one night in Kaş.
The route
The road follows the coast past Kemer, climbs through the mountains and comes back down to the sea near Kumluca, Demre and Kaş. Stops worth making: the bays around Kemer, a coffee with a view near Olympos, and Demre for the ancient city of Myra.
In Kaş

Kaş has a small harbour, white houses draped in bougainvillea, a Lycian rock tomb in the town and an ancient theatre facing the sea. It is known for diving and boat trips to Kekova. Walk the lanes, eat by the harbour and watch the sunset from the theatre.
Day trip or overnight?
The drive takes a good part of the day each way, so a day trip leaves only a few hours in Kaş. One night gives you a relaxed evening and a morning swim. With a driver, you can rest and enjoy the views; see getting around Antalya.
Tips
- Leave early to avoid driving the mountain sections in the dark.
- Fill up fuel and carry water.
- In summer, combine with a swim stop.
Other long days out: Olympos and Çıralı and Suluada. Start your planning with things to do in Antalya and the Antalya guide.
