In short: The first places to see in Antalya are Kaleiçi and the old harbour, Hadrian's Gate, Konyaaltı beach, Lower Düden Waterfall, Antalya Museum and Perge ancient city, about 17 km from the centre. Kaleiçi and the old harbour
Kaleiçi is Antalya's walled old town. Entering through Hadrian's Gate and wandering the narrow lanes down to the old harbour is the best introduction to the city. Early morning is quiet; at midday, take a break in a shaded courtyard café. The harbour boat trips leave from here too.

Konyaaltı beach
Konyaaltı is the long pebble beach west of the centre, with a walking and cycling path along the shore and the Beydağları mountains behind. Antalya Museum sits at its eastern end, so you can combine both in one day. Water shoes help on the pebbles.

The Düden waterfalls
The Düden river runs through the city and drops about 40 metres off the cliffs into the sea at Lara. See Lower Düden from the clifftop park or from a boat leaving Kaleiçi. Upper Düden, north of the centre, sits in a shady park with a path that passes behind the falls.

Perge and the ancient cities
Perge, with its long colonnaded street, theatre and stadium, is the nearest major ancient city. You can combine it with the theatre at Aspendos in Serik and with Side on the same day. There is little shade, so bring a hat and water and go early in summer.

How to plan your visit
