The best sunset spots in Antalya
Antalya faces south and west across the bay, so the sun sets behind the mountains. Here is where to watch it.

In short: the classic Antalya sunset spot is the clifftop at Hıdırlık Tower and Karaalioğlu Park in Kaleiçi, looking across the bay to the Beydağları mountains. Konyaaltı promenade gives the sun dropping behind the mountains over the sea, Tünektepe gives the view from above, and Side's temple ruins are the best sunset outside the city.
1. Hıdırlık Tower and Karaalioğlu Park
At the southern edge of Kaleiçi, the 14-metre Roman Hıdırlık Tower stands at the end of Karaalioğlu Park, a free clifftop garden open all day. As the sun goes down behind the Beydağları, the light falls on the tower and across the bay. It is popular, so arrive about 20 minutes early and stand slightly east of the tower for photos. 2. Konyaaltı promenade
Walk or cycle west along Konyaaltı beach in the late afternoon and watch the sun sink behind the mountains at the end of the bay. The pebbles and the long promenade mean there is always space. Bring a jacket outside summer: it cools quickly after sunset.
3. Tünektepe
Tünektepe, above the western end of Konyaaltı, gives a bird's-eye view over the whole bay and city. The cable car from Sarısu climbs to about 600 metres and has cafés at the top. Check that it is running before you go: Tünektepe Teleferik was reported temporarily closed in 2026. Late afternoon light is beautiful, but haze can soften the view on hot days.
4. The old harbour
Down at sea level, Kaleiçi's old harbour turns golden at the end of the day as the boats come in. Take a table at a harbour café, or simply sit on the walls. The harbour stays lively after dark.
5. On a boat
Some boats leaving the old harbour run late-afternoon or sunset trips along the cliffs. Seeing the city's walls and cliffs turn pink from the water is special. Ask for sunset departures when you request; see Antalya boat trips.
6. The Lara cliffs and Düden Park
East of the centre, the clifftop park around Lower Düden waterfall faces west along the coast. It is quieter than Kaleiçi and you get the waterfall in the frame as the light changes.
7. Side's temple ruins
If you are staying east of Antalya, the temple ruins at the tip of the Side peninsula are the most atmospheric sunset in the region: columns, sea and sky. Make it the last stop of a Perge, Aspendos and Side day.
Sunset tips
- Check the sunset time on your phone; it varies by more than two hours between summer and winter.
- Arrive 20–30 minutes early for the best light and a good spot.
- The colours often peak 10–15 minutes after the sun disappears: don't leave too soon.
- Bring a light layer, especially on the clifftops and at Tünektepe.
- For better photos, put something in the foreground: the tower, a boat, palms, people.
