In short: Antalya is one of the easiest places in Turkey for a family holiday. The airport is close to the resorts, Konyaaltı beach shelves gently, and there are indoor options such as Antalya Aquarium and theme parks like Land of Legends in Belek. Plan outdoor time before 11:00 and after 16:00 in July and August, when temperatures can pass 35°C.

Where to stay with children

  • Lara and Belek: large resorts with pools, kids' clubs and beaches; short airport transfers.
  • Konyaaltı: city beach, promenade, playgrounds and the aquarium; good if you want apartments and city life.
  • Kemer: mountains to the sea, calmer bays; longer transfer.
  • A villa: privacy and your own pool for bigger families; check pool fencing and stairs.

Beaches for small children

Konyaaltı beach goes into the water gradually, which suits small swimmers, and has cafés, playgrounds and sunbeds along the promenade. It is pebbly, so pack water shoes. Resort beaches in Lara and Belek are often sandier and have lifeguards in season. Whatever beach you choose, keep to marked swimming areas and watch for flags.

Indoor and rainy-day plans

Antalya Aquarium in Konyaaltı is a family favourite, with a long underwater tunnel and other exhibits; plan two to three hours. Next door, Aktur Park has rides paid by token. These are useful on the hottest afternoons or on a rare rainy day.

Theme parks

The Land of Legends in Belek combines rides, a water park and evening shows and is best for children about six and older; plan a full day and book ahead in summer. Smaller dinosaur and water parks suit younger children. Check current opening dates and prices on official websites; many parks run seasonal hours.

Easy nature and boat days

  • Düden waterfalls: free, with paths and picnic areas at Upper Düden and the sea-cliff falls at Lower Düden.
  • A short harbour boat trip from Kaleiçi: an hour or two, no long transfer. See Antalya boat trips.
  • Calm-water kayaking on guided routes for older children; see Antalya activities.
  • Karaalioğlu Park: free, shady, with a playground and sea views.

Old town and history with kids

Kaleiçi works best as a short 60–90 minute walk with an ice cream at the harbour; the lanes are passable with a pushchair but bumpy. At Aspendos, children love testing the acoustics of the Roman theatre. Choose one historic site per day rather than three.

Getting there: transfers and child seats

Request child seats in advance and give ages and weights.

Antalya Airport is about 15 km from Lara and 35 km from Belek, so transfers are short. Child and baby seats usually need to be requested in advance; give ages and weights and confirm with the provider. A larger vehicle helps with a pushchair and extra luggage. See Antalya airport transfer.

Heat and health tips

  • Outdoor plans before 11:00 and after 16:00 in midsummer.
  • High-factor sunscreen, hats and plenty of water; rash vests for the beach.
  • Shade at lunch: an indoor plan or a nap.
  • Keep pharmacies' locations handy; Turkish pharmacies are well stocked and helpful.
